Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's the first artist of female gender on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. Sweat It is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21st, 2015. In the following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some references for Rihanna. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. On the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the song Backseat along with Cozz. On October 21 2016 she dropped her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she accompanied by EarthGang. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream, from the album came out September 5, 2018 with a music video. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 2013 she dropped No One, and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later made the track available as a single by herself to her debut album. The song, released with a video on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times in the first seven days. In December 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
