Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered the Emmy Award. She has also starred in series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the only daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. Her upbringing was in a home that included four brothers. In her early years she was aspired to become an official in the courtroom. After graduating from high school, and moving in New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first role as an actor was as a teenage innocent on All My Children, a soap opera from 1981. Delaney is well-known as an actress, appearing featured in a variety of TV movies, and dramas. The way she lives her life, unlike her professional has not had a happy and successful. The talented actress was afflicted with alcoholism throughout her life and has been through two divorces. In 2005 she lost the custody of her sole son.
